The growth of natural gas prices marks the beginning of summer 2021
In June 2021, after concluding 1.457 transactions, GET Baltic Gas Exchange traded volume amounted to 457 GWh of natural gas. 456 GWh of the whole volume was traded on a daily market and 0.6 GWh – on monthly. The purchase volume in Lithuanian market area raised exceptionally – around 91% (June 2021 – 298 GWh; May 2021 – 156 GWh). In total 44 participants actively submitted orders, 43 of them successfully concluded transactions.
During June, the prices of individual transactions fluctuated between 22.74 EUR/MWh and 28.94 EUR/MWh. Baltic-Finnish Gas Spot Index (BGSI), which captures changes of gas prices on a daily market, value in June was 26.15 EUR/MWh. This is 20% more comparing to May 2021 (21.85 EUR/MWh). Participants concluded transactions in Lithuanian market area paid the weighted average price of 26.03 EUR/MWh (↑23%), in Latvian-Estonian common market area – 25.98 EUR/MWh (↑17%), in Finnish market area – 26.75 EUR/MWh (↑19%). Baltic-Finnish Gas Monthly Index (BGMI), which captures monthly market gas prices changes, value in June 2021 was 25.80 EUR/MWh.
