Traded volumes within the two months of this year exceeded the total volume traded last year

In February 2019 Baltic Gas Exchange GET Baltic traded volumes amounted to 421 GWh of natural gas. In total 769 transactions were concluded. After the end of first two months of the year total traded volume (1.12 TWh) exceeded the volume traded last year (1.08 TWh). During February 2019 orders were submitted and transactions concluded by 26 participants (January 2019 – 29).

The first monthly transaction concluded for delivery in January broke the ice in a long-term products market. For delivery in February 10 monthly transactions were concluded. Compared to January 2019 the monthly market traded volume increased by 5% and reached 201 GWh. Baltic Gas Monthly Index (BGMI), which captures gas prices changes of the monthly market in the Baltics, value in February 2019 was 22.27 EUR/MWh.

Concluding 759 transactions traded volume of the daily market amounted to 220 GWh of natural gas. Comparing month on month (504 GWh) traded volume declined about 2 times, while comparing year on year (51 GWh) increased more than 4 times. Baltic Gas Spot Index (BGSI) which captures gas prices changes of daily market in the Baltics, value in February 2019 was 22.00 EUR/MWh and compared to January 2019 (24.27 EUR/MWh) decreased by 9%. Exchange participants concluded transactions in Lithuanian market area paid the weighted average price of 22.01 EUR/MWh (↓9%), in Latvian market area – 21.77 EUR/MWh (↓8%), Estonian market area – 21.78 EUR/MWh (↓11%).
