Development of Sustainability Get Baltic: priorities, goals and results

As part of the EEX group, our concept of sustainability is inseparable from that of the group as a whole. We understand sustainability as the implementation of the transformation of the energy sector, ensuring a balance between environmental, social and economic goals, thus contributing to the creation of a climate-neutral economy.

We are guided by the principle that  of sustainability must be integrated into all our activities and processes. We therefore aim to contribute to the overall sustainability of the EEX group by making a contribution commensurate with the size and performance of our company.

Get Baltic important sustainability issues

Get Baltic has assessed the overall assessment of the sustainability topics relevant to it, involving relevant stakeholders. In 2022 the survey was conducted at the beginning of the year, involved 19 respondents, including Get Baltic’s customers, employees, suppliers, business partners and managers.

The implementation of the principles of sustainable activities in the company is the responsibility of both the company’s management and each member of the team who contributes to change on their own initiative.

Creating an intelligent, sustainable organization

  • Ensure 0 cases of human rights violations or discrimination
  • Aim for customer satisfaction index of at least 70%.
  • Aim for at least 70 percent, regarding the company as an open, innovative and sustainable organization for employees, producers, suppliers and consumers
  • In 2021, the company joined the Equal Opportunities Policy and identified ways to report possible cases of discrimination and human rights violations.
  • We conducted a GSCI customer satisfaction survey: the customer satisfaction index is high at 75 percent
  • Based on the comments received during the survey, we will develop a customer satisfaction plan
  • We conducted an employee engagement survey, employee engagement in the company – 100 percent
  • During 2021, additional benefits were provided to the company’s employees for 500 euros.

  • In 2021, the company’s staff was recognized by the EPSO-G Innovation Committee and the Innovation Curator for not only the proposed but also the implemented innovation – the creation of a secondary transmission capacity trading platform for the Finnish market.
GHG emissions and reduction measures

In 2021, Get Baltic, together with other companies in the EPSO-G Group, conducted an GHG inventory in accordance with the international GHG Protocol methodology. During the inventory, direct (first level) and indirect (second level) greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the company’s activities and impacts were assessed. Scope 2 emissions are calculated using the market based approach.

The main sources of emissions are:

  • The use of diesel fuel in cars (Scope 1) accounts for 57.38% of total GHG emissions
  • Purchased electricity for own use (Scope 2) – 35.67% of total GHG emissions
  • The use of petrol in cars (Scope 1) accounts for 3.70% of total GHG emissions
  • Purchased heat energy for own use (Scope 2) – 3.24% of total GHG emissions

The main reasons for the reduction in emissions are the use of green energy in the company’s operations, lower energy consumption in offices due to the impact of COVID-19, as well as lower emissions from transport due to less frequent travel.

This year, Get Baltic is committed to developing and publishing long-term plans for reducing GHG emissions.
